Job Description

Blooms Garden Center and BladeWorks Landscaping is looking for candidates to add to our garden center/nursery green team. We are hiring candidates for our on-site green team and our off-site team . This is a seasonal position with a flexible schedule. Full Time and Part Time positions available. Some weekend and evening hours may be required.

DESCRIPTION:

As part of our on-site green team , you will work alongside our expert team in maintaining plant stock and assisting customers. Candidate will have opportunities to work in our tree nursery and/or with annuals, perennials, and shrubs in our courtyard.
As part of our off-site green team , you will work alongside our expert staff in maintaining plant material and planting trees, shrubs and annuals at various customer locations. You will also have the occasional opportunity to work on-site in our tree nursery and/or with annuals, perennials, and shrubs in our courtyard.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Greet customers and assist in locating desired plant or product.
• Unload, document, and stock plant/product shipments.
• Assist in plant maintenance including watering, repotting, pruning, fertilizing, etc.
• Create eye-catching plant displays and maintain a neat and orderly courtyard.
• Discuss common plant/tree diseases and pests and educate customers to help them find the correct solution.
• May be required to answer customer phone calls and handle inquiries.
• Safely and properly load and transport plants to customer locations.
• Correctly plant annuals, trees, and other greenery as specified by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Friendly, outgoing personality and an interest in helping customers create beautiful outdoor spaces.
• Passion for plants and a basic understanding of their care.
• Must be able to lift and move at least 40lbs.
• Must enjoy working outdoors and be willing to get your hands dirty.
• Ability to maintain a cheerful and positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be a self-starter and able to initiate tasks without constant supervision.
• Horticulture experience/education is a plus but not required.

Job type: Part-time, Seasonal, with potential for Full-time year round position.

Pay determined based on experience and plant knowledge.

BladeWorks Landscaping started in 1992. We provide commercial and residential property care: landscaping, lawn services, tree care, snow removal, and commercial holiday lighting. Over the years, our landscaping business grew and we began to see the need to open our own retail garden center to better serve our clients. Blooms Garden Center and Gift Shop opened in 2017. We carry annuals, vegetables, herbs, perennials, grasses, shrubs, evergreens and trees. The Gift Shop is filled with unique gifts, handmade goods, houseplants and home and garden décor.
