About this Role

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II and in collaboration with the Staff Services  Manager III, the Staff Services Manager I (Specialist) serves as a Project Manager responsible for  leading CalHR’s most complex and sensitive internal and external process improvement projects. The  incumbent functions as a highly skilled, independent consultant and project leader, coordinating cross-functional teams and initiatives using Lean, project management, and change management  methodologies.  The incumbent will work collaboratively with CalHR divisions and stakeholders to identify areas for  improvement, develop and implement action plans, track key milestones and deliverables, and  measure program effectiveness. This position plays a critical role in aligning process improvement  efforts with CalHR’s strategic goals and ensuring consistent application of best practices across the  department.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Knowledge and experience of Project management and process improvement 
  • Knowledge of change management principles and implementing organizational change initiatives
  • Knowledge and experience applying Agile and or Lean principles in project execution
  • Proficiency with project management tools, Microsoft Project, Planner or similar platforms
  • Experience leading cross functional teams and ability to lead diverse teams across divisions at CalHR
