Job Description

We are looking for an organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Trucking Dispatcher to coordinate the scheduling and routing of local drivers. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a working knowledge of transportation logistics, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The dispatcher ensures that goods are transported efficiently, on time, and in compliance with all applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and dispatch drivers to pick up and deliver loads to our customers around Michigan and surrounding states.
  • Plan and optimize routes to ensure cost-effective and timely deliveries.
  • Track and monitor driver locations and job progress using dispatch software and GPS systems.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers regarding route changes, weather delays, and emergency situations.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily dispatch activities, delivery confirmations, and driver logs.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules and communicate equipment issues with the fleet department.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, HOS and internal safety policies.
  • Serve as a point of contact for customer inquiries related to deliveries and transportation status.
  • Collaborate with other departments (repairs, operations, customer service and management) to support logistics efficiency.


Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in logistics or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in dispatching, logistics, or transportation (trucking industry preferred).
  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Proficiency in dispatching software, GPS tracking tools, and Google Suite.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and make quick decisions.
  • Availability for occasional after-hours or weekend work, depending on company needs.
